Definition of Social Innovation…

Social innovation refers to new strategies, concepts, ideas and organisations that meet social needs of all kinds – from working conditions and education to community development and health – and that extend and strengthen civil society.

Social innovation in Western Australia in a registered not for profit (we prefer profit for purpose) organisation that builds strong partnerships with Corporates, Government, Not for Profits and the Community to create structures to support Social Innovation, Social Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurship in Western Australia.

Projects that move beyond talking and learn through doing are key to how we are achieving this purpose. These projects are not possible without the support of our Partner organisations and the National Social Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise alliance. We have assembled a knowledgable and talented Board and Advisory Team to guide the direction of SiiWA and ensure we are meeting our purpose and supporting the Social Entrepreneurs of Western Australia.

Outcomes

• Business and  Government investment in solving social challenges is more effective
• Third-sector Organisations are more effective, independent and responsive through adopting more innovative approaches and/or alternative revenue models
• Social Innovation as a practice is recognised as a learnable, deliberate and proven
• Increased number, scale and employment in organisations with social missions
• Measured improvements in ecological health, human wellbeing and economic resilience at a variety of scales (neigbourhood, region, state) attributable to Social Innovation
